Mini Comics Day

Mini Comics day isn't officially until Saturday May 26th. I think it's a terrible idea having a comic event on a holiday weekend so instead Merlyn's comics and cards in Spokane did their own thing early on Saturday April 7th. I went knowing that I wasn't going to follow the rules. The idea of a mini comic is intriguing but I wanted to do my own thing. I have this idea to do a series of PSA announcements featuring The Avengers with funny pun tag lines that relate to their characters. During the event I drew Hulk, Thor, Nick Fury (Sam Jackson) and Black Widow. I am hoping to get a few done between now and the Spokane Comicon but that might be easier said than done.
The coolest thing from the entire mini comics day was that we had some parents bring their kids down to hang out, ask us some questions and do their own drawings. I never had any events like Mini Comics, 24 hour comic challenge or comic cons in my backyard as a kid. Hell I didn't even have a comic book store anywhere near where I lived on Whidbey Island. The closest shop was about 45-60 minutes away. I think that's the most important thing that should come of any of these sort of local events is that I hope we inspire some future artists.

Coming up next I will have a table at the Earth Day street fair on Saturday April 21st in Spokane. I will have lots of FREE comics to hand out, doing FREE sketches for kids and selling a few prints too. I hope to see you all there.
